It's a beautiful life.

Sometimes there's so much beauty in the world I feel like I can't take it, like my heart's going to cave in.
- American Beauty.

This is how i feel right now. So much beauty surrounding me, so much to take in, i wish i could capture every moment and keep it in my heart forever.

I love my life!

Inspire and be inspired

(credit)

6 ways I keep myself inspired and creatively fulfilled: (for those days when you feel like you're lacking)

6. Magazines: Frankie, Russh, Marie Clare, Yen, Oyster... etc. I love different magazines for different reasons but one thing they all have in common is beautiful photography, editorials that make me swoon and ideas for my home/ wardrobe/ life that are creative, interesting and fun.

5. Getting creative! Putting on my favourite cd and scrap booking, writing someone a letter, decorating a journal or notebook, making jewelry.

4. Getting out. Getting away from the computer, my cell phone and the television. Taking a walk and writing in my journal, taking some pictures, making a daisy chain, playing on a swing.

3. Op shopping. I love love love the joy of digging for treasures in little dusty op shops. My favourite is trying to find pretty jars and tins and photo frames for my home, but every now and then i have some luck and find a great scarf or hat or bag.

2. People watching. Sounds creepy? But it's so much fun and i know we secretly all love it. My favourite is finding a coffee shop on a corner, ordering a hot drink in the largest size and sitting in the window seat making up stories about the lives of the people walking by.

1. The world of blogging. Nothing beats going through your blog roll, visiting every blog and taking it all in. Then visiting every blog on everyone elses blog roll. Photography blogs, home decor blogs, hand made blogs, cooking and baking blogs, cobra snake blogs, art and design blogs... so many amazing ideas, so many amazing talents, so much to take in!

Mink Pink Summer 09/10

For those of us living down under it's coming into summer time, and I am getting so excited! The new summer range from Mink Pink is so beautiful and has given me so many great ideas. I can't wait til it hits our stores here so I can treat myself to a few goodies to wear in the sunny weather.

The thing i love about Mink Pink is that you can mix and match all the pieces together and have fun with layering and wearing them in different ways.

Check out their blog here and website here.

A few words of wisdom

“Go be that starving Artist you’re afraid to be. Open up that journal and get poetic finally. Volunteer. Suck it up and travel. You were not born here to work and pay taxes. You were put here to be part of a vast organism to explore and create. Stop putting it off. The world has much more to offer than what’s on 15 televisions at TGI Fridays. Take pictures. Scare people. Shake up the scene. Be the change you want to see in the world. You’ll thank yourself for it.”

Good as Gold LOOKBOOK

New Zealand artist and photographer Kelly Thompson (you might know her from this exhibition with Kelly Smith) has photographed the new lookbook for Wellington store Good as Gold. I love the results!

Good as Gold is amazing store and always worth the visit when you're in Welly. They stock some amazing stuff and great brands like Blak Basics, Chronicles of Never, Keep and Lover.

Also, make sure you head over to their website here, for plenty of inspiration and entertainment!

Interior Inspiration

I'm so captivated by all the beautiful interior pictures on Lobster and Swans flickr. I have so many new ideas for making my home a little more creative and interesting.

I love the idea in the top picture of hanging up empty frames then hanging something else within them. So clever!

Cute handmade jewellery!

I have just discovered Joanna Rutter's shop on etsy (here) and I think I'm in love!

Joanna uses her love of illustration as inspiration for her pieces and sketches them first, then turns them into this adorable jewellery by hand rendering the metal. I really want the tree necklace!

Summer lovin..

I am so ready for summer. I can't wait for long, hot nights spent outside with friends and food and ice cold beer. I can't wait for salads at every meal, bike rides with the hubby, picking wildflowers and putting them in my hair, Parachute music festival and salty, beach hair days.

Bring on the sunshine, denim shorts, long over sized tshirts, old crappy op shop sunglasses, wide brim straw hats and breezy summer days.

Tales of Mozambique

I honestly can't put into words the experience I had but I thought I would share a few pictures to give you guys a bit of an idea of what went on. A basic round up of the trip is that we stayed at an orphanage in Pemba Mozambique and spent time serving in different areas and outreaches, spending time with the orphans and village children and helping out in anyway we could.

This is part of the visitors centre where we stayed. The place was beautiful and was our little sanctuary in the midst of an often chaotic place.

Pictures cannot capture the beauty of African sunsets. The sky is red like you can't even imagine. And we got to enjoy this everyday!

One of the toddlers living at the orphanage! One of my favourite things about the trip was just spending time with the kids and loving them.

Beautiful Farda, one of the orphans my husband and i really bonded with. So so so sad to have had to walk away from such a beautiful soul.

Hanging out in the church and enjoying time with some of the village kids. Our empty drink bottles were gold to them. Hard to think that something that is just a scrap to us is such a treasure to these people.

Clean and showered! After Mozambique the hubby and i spent a week in South Africa with some friends, seeing where they grew up, meeting their family and unwinding after a stretching trip.

Goodbye South Africa! Ready to leave for the (scary) drive to Johannesburg. People don't break on the streets of Joberg, they just swerve. Interesting lesson to learn but we made it to the airport safe and sound.

Well those are just a few of many pictures. I really don't know how to properly explain this trip but it was truly impacting. I will definitely return to Mozambique, as soon as my finances allow it!

Ashley Olsen for Marie Claire

Reminding me once again why she's my favourite Olsen, Ashley is on the cover of the new Marie Claire looking absolutely stunning. The article discusses her new career path as a fashion designer and features some beautiful photographs of her looking timeless and natural.

**

In other news I'm getting together some of the pictures of my African experience so i can share it with you guys asap. Right now I'm extremely jet lagged and trying to get to grips with being back in the western world. *Sigh*

Home from Africa!

Africa was the most amazing experience of my life and I have so much to share with you guys if you're interested! This is just a quick post to say I'm back and a big thank you to Daydream Lily for taking care of Here Comes the Sun for the 3 weeks I was away.

I have lots of catching up to do on everything you guys have been posting, so it might take a few days but I will get around to you all!

Anyway I want to leave you with this picture of Farda, a young Mozambican girl my husband and I bonded with during our stay. Isn't she the most beautiful thing you have ever seen?

Looking forward to hearing from you all :)
