Todays question is: Why do you blog?

Villena, Barcelona

Todays question: Why do you blog?

I started Here Comes the Sun about a year and a half ago as a way to feel inspired again after spending a lot of time focusing on my degree and work rather than the creative stuff that makes me happy.

Since then blogging has grown and changed so much and become such a community. I read so many blogs and really enjoy and appreciate everyone who comes to visit me here! I think now I blog just to share a little more beauty with the world, if that doesn't sound too cheesy.

So the question of the day is, why do you blog?

  2. I blog to drain all the thoughts i have throughout the day; most of what i think about daily gets printed onto the pages of my blog
    (:

  4. Thank you for blogging.
I blog to rid of thoughts positive and negative, and to share what's beautiful.

(I follow your blog from Italy)

  5. I started blogging because I felt like I had something to say and I was itching to write. I wanted to share things with others in a public forum and participate in discussion. I've continued blogging because it inspires me in all aspects of my life to excel, to stretch beyond my means, and to challenge myself in new and different ways every day.

  6. I blog about things that interest me, and are creative in some way shape or form. I sometimes think that my brain is turning to mush at work and love coming home and writing about the things that inspire me. I love reading other blogs and am so inspired by what I read that I can't NOT write my own blog xx

  7. I blog because something crazy compels me to do it at this point, and I don't sleep well if I haven't gotten my daily fix :)

But I started blogging as a catalyst to get myself writing when my professional life started to take over every minute of my day. And then the community of bloggers is encouraging and often inspiring in terms of continuation and commitment. It's so helpful to see beautiful and positive images/sentiments from other people on a regular basis, and your blogs is one of those.

  8. I blog as it's a useful place to bring together all the inspiring things I come across online and things that I'm loving at any given time.

I started it off with the aim of it being a kind of marketing tool to promote my handmade flower hair accessories but it's defnitely now much more pesronal than that and something I do coz I really enjoy it.

I also love that it's a record of my life and family and it includes pics of my little girl. I'm looking forward to showing all the archives to her when she's older and re-reading it sall myself one day to see what I was doing!

  9. I started blogging because I started reading so many amazing and inspiring blogs.

I have always been loving to write and read and when I understood that blogging could actually mean instant publishing, I just went for it!

Also, I love having a place to share all my inspiration and to save it all in one place!

  11. Not an easy question actually...! I think I blog to keep the best of every day, and maybe also to escape a little bit of my studies which are taking me so much time! This would be my answer!

  12. I blog because there's so much I want to share! I come across wonderful stories or videos, or I come up with these crazy thoughts in my head or take pictures of beautiful things that I want other people to enjoy too. "Shared joy is double joy, shared sorrow is half sorrow." And I blog because I love words and I want to use them as best I can.

  13. I blog to make me feel that I have done something productive during the day - creating something, whether it's a blog post, a drawing or a poem is in some silly way my way of feeling that i have accomplished something!

It's a little bit narcissistic as well, I want the world to know my thoughts :)

  14. I blog because it gives me somewhere to dump just a little bit of what's in my brain. It doesn't matter whether anyone reads it or not. It just makes me feel happy and inspired. :)

  15. I blog mainly to cause people to question and think their lives over (as I often do of my own). Otherwise the fashion posts I make are to give breaks with all those thought provoking entries. I've been trying to give long breaks lately.

  16. idk...i guess i blog so i can share with whoever cares to look the things i find beautiful in hopes that it makes them feel some form of emotion.

  17. I blog because.. it's like writing a list if things you like, i like having the visual reminder of all the things i love and the places i do, also as a aback up plan if i ever get Alzheimer's and forget :)

  18. Agreed with all above comments.

But mostly I blog because it's a form of escapism.
Being bogged down in the big city can get tiresome.

  23. that's a good question - it's also interesting to read everyone's answers. i started blogging pretty much for the same reason as you - but also because i kept finding so many things i wanted to share with others and i felt that i should stop bombarding my friends with links and just consolidate them in one place, haha.

  24. I started blogging 18 months ago because I need to do 23 things at the one time. Being sleep deprived, breastfeeding a newborn and working just wasn't enough. Plus I wanted to have somewhere to keep my memories.

It's changed over the months. I've always loved magazines, and I think of my blog as my very own personal magazine.

In essence, I blog because I want to, and I can. xx

  25. i blog because i want to read myself ten years from now and muse at how pathetic i was. or something like it.

    :D

im a fan of thy blog, by the way! cool photos!

  26. i blog simply because it's fun to meet like-minded people.

  27. i blog just as a way to express myself. whether by showing photographs i love or writing lyrics or rambling about goodness knows what. i blog what inspires me and hope that, along the way, maybe one person will be inspired as well.
    xx

  29. I blog because I want to share my work and my emotions with the visitor. I write and take pictures and hope that someone anywhere likes and feels something. I can't stop, it makes me happy.

  30. I blog so that I can keep track of the beautiful things I'm fortunate enough to portrait. Even when life is a mess, its magic still manages to take my breath away.

  31. What I now do on my blog, I used to do on Facebook (i.e. I upload themed mini photo albums called TOP 5s).

My friends responded to it so strongly, and they seemed to enjoy it so much, that I figured I may as well put it online and share it with a bigger audience.

I'm having a lot of fun with it.

  32. well that's an interesting question. i guess i just enjoy it. i've been doing it for a while now.. and i just have fun with it :)

  33. I blog to see what it is going to turn into.. and, basically, the same reason like yours, to spent time (and) (on) creativity besides working on the degree. A little distraction from the reality - dreaming of something else!

  34. I blog because I got addicted to reading other peoples blogs & realised what a great community there is in blog-land. It's fun to share part of yourself on line & to connect with similar minded people & to be challenged & inspired in such a beautiful, non-obtrusive way :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. My reasons are very similar to yours. As a writer I find blogging a gratifying way to beautify this world, inspire others and let people know about what I do. It's a wonderful outlet for creative minds.

  36. I'm still a bit of a newbie really. It started out as more of a journal for my family and friends but I guess slowly, I have made contact with some lovely people and I love learning about them. I don't know if I could top now!

    ReplyDelete
  37. cause it's fun to share your joy/love/life and yet still somewhat remain a mystery :)

  40. I don't know actually. Most of the time I'm just sitting in front of the computer, trying to explain my thoughts, even though I know I wont succeed. So I guess it's kinda useless.. No, I don't know..

  41. I used to have a lot of penpals. Since the people sadly don't write letters anymore, blogging became sort of a substitute for writing letters. This is not why I started but I realized it's one of the main reasons I keep on doing it.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I started with blogging about a month ago, and the reason why is so that I have a place to write down my thoughts and post some of my photographs.

    ReplyDelete
  43. for me its somewhat an escape from reality, i crave constant image stimulations & blogging def provides that! love your blog!

  44. oh i have pretty much similar reasons with you really! it's just an escape from my day to day work life, and when i find pretty things it'd be just such a shame not to keep the links somewhere and also share them with people, so my blog is really sort of like an online library of my fave things :)

  45. I blog to keep myself sane. I love it! It feels so good just to empty my brain out also.

  46. Interesting that you would ask this question so soon after I did a revamp on my blog and a post about its purpose--with a few beautiful photos from Here Comes the Sun. I love your blog, and I believe that blogging is all about being inspired. You can read my post here:

  52. I blog as a way to give back. Of course, there's the other side of me that's also looking for a small side income, but making really good money on a blog takes a lot of work and a lot of time. Expecting to make a full time salary is very ambitious and requires a lot of business know-how and planning. Right now I blog because I’ve learned so much from other blogs and wanted to give back in my own way. I also find so much cool stuff around the internet and learn something new everyday, so I want a way to share that, beyond just social networking.
