in·flu·ence [in-floo-uhns] verb, -enced, -enc·ing.
–noun
1.
the capacity or power of persons or things to be a compelling force on or produce effects on the actions, behavior, opinions, etc., of others: He used family influence to get the contract.

I've been thinking about influence a lot, about how my words and actions affect others around me. I want to be the kind of person that influences others for good, I'm not sure how to do that and this isn't something I have the answers to yet, it's just been on my mind.

What are your thoughts on influence?

  1. I like this miss Amanda. We have to be careful with our words, and our actions even more so. I think the best way to be a positive influence is to live a positive life. See the beauty in everything and continue to tell the ones you love that you do. its true, its the little things.

  2. I think we always are looking for ways to be influential and make a difference in someone else's life, but we can't do that by trying harder. the only way we can truly make a difference is by being who we are and hoping someone sees that as something more

  3. ..My ideas about influence are about developed as yours..I just want to make a positive impact, but don't know how best to go about this. I just try to be a happy, thoughtful person..and hope it rubs off on those people that come my way.

  4. I agree with raspberry pancakes, it's definitely about thinking of the person you can be first and foremost. Sometimes when we attempt to influence or impress others we can lose ourselves, and at the end of the day it's our own individuality that inspires others the most!
The best thing we can do is focus on being a genuine, good person and using positive language. Positivity and a lust for life are infectious!

  6. Just thought id leave some encouragement with regards to your influence. I dont think you would remember me but we've met a couple times ages ago, and one time you encouraged me to read the bible with a pen / highlighter in hand cause it help to soak it in more when you look for what to highlight, and because of this I got through the entire bible. so cheers for that. always love reading the blog.

  7. I have just been learning this recently... we can either affect people or be affected. Fear really stops us from be the affecters. Thanks for sharing.

  8. I have been thinking a lot about this lately.

I did a personality test (enneagram test) and I learned that I was type 3, who is caring a lot about what others think. And it fits! I do spend a lot of time thinking about what others might think of me.

And this has made me realize that I might have been influenced by this to make decisions that have been wrong.

Also, I question a lot if my passions are real, or just influenced by bloggers, magazines, movies and other kinds of media.

I have been thinking mostly about how I'm unfluenced by others, but maybe I should shift my focus?

  9. I find it to be very scientific, and if used the wrong way becomes manipulation. Influence, manipulation, sway, whatever you wish to call it, is a very powerful tool.
