Todays question is: How do you stay inspired?

(Maja)

Todays question is: How do you stay inspired?

I know we all have those days when it seems like there's nothing to post about and inspiration seems to be hiding away somewhere, so what do you guys do to get it back?

Here's a few of the ways I keep myself creatively fulfilled:

♥- Magazines: Frankie, Russh, Marie Clare, Yen, Oyster... beautiful photography, editorials that make me swoon and ideas for my home/ wardrobe/ life that are creative, interesting and fun

♥- Getting creative! Putting on the Beatles and writing someone a letter, decorating a journal or notebook, making jewelry or rearranging my furniture (sounds silly but i love it.)

♥- Getting out. Getting away from the computer, my cell phone and the television. Taking a walk, visiting a friend, going on a day trip.

♥- Op shopping. I love love love the joy of digging for treasures in little dusty op shops. My favourite is trying to find pretty jars and tins and photo frames for my home and lately I've been finding so many great leather satchels!

♥- The world of blogging. Nothing beats going through your blog roll, visiting every blog and taking it all in. Then visiting every blog on everyone elses blog roll. Photography blogs, home decor blogs, hand made blogs, cooking and baking blogs, cobra snake blogs, art and design blogs... so many amazing ideas, so many amazing talents, so much to take in!

Now it's your turn to tell me how you stay inspired :)

the sound of rain on the roof while I fall asleep

(credit)

I am so ready for winter. It has been an amazing summer and I've loved every moment of it but right now all I want is crispy winter days, hot soups for lunch, hot home made curries, hot chocolates at breakfast, lots and lots of layers and coats and scarves and hats, cozy days all snuggled up inside and the sound of rain on the roof while I fall asleep. Yes please!

little update

Pictures by Tae Co.

I'm away at a conference for the next three days but I've scheduled a few posts for while I'm gone. I'm kind of excited because the place we're staying at has one of those really big trampolines which means you can do the most daring of flips without the fear that you're going to fly off the edge or land on the bars. (I will never be too old for trampolines, anyone else agree?!)

Sessun S/S lookbook

Beautiful pictures from French label Sessuns Spring/Summer lookbook. I especially want the denim dress! We're heading out of summer here and beginning towards Autumn so I guess I should feature an Autumn/Winter lookbook next time.

Thanks to Where the Lovely Things Are for finding this :)

Tree House Restaurant

I don't know how I missed hearing about this seeing as it's in New Zealand which is where I live but this is a Tree House Restaurant made by our phone directory the Yellow Pages. It was made as part of an advertising campaign to help people see yellow in a different light (the same campaign also involved the creation of yellow flavoured chocolate! I haven't tasted it yet but I'm curious what "yellow" would taste like.) and I think it's pretty amazing.

I'm struggling to find the exact location, I just know it's somewhere in NZ. The restaurant is sadly all booked out but I do hear they're thinking of opening it as a wedding venue in the future. Imagine getting married in a tree house!

Here's some pictures of it's construction too. x

Oh and one more thing, credit to the beautiful blog Lace and Tea for finding this. I'm still not sure how I missed hearing about it!

Snug

Snug is cute German shop I've stumbled upon. Google translate isn't being very helpful but from what I can tell it's quite new but I think they're going to have some of their products available to purchase online soon. I think this might be one to watch out for- from what I can see it looks pretty neat!

The way you do one thing is how you do everything

(Yvette Inufio)

Last year I started martial arts (I do mixed martial arts- mostly a combo of tae kwan do and jujitso, if anyone is interested!) and I am learning so much about strength and discipline. One of the main values my trainer emphasizes to us is "the way you do one thing is how you do everything," and it really gets me motivated.

For example- I don't want to just give it my all in class right at the start when I am feeling fresh and energetic- then slack off later when I'm tired. I want to give it my all from start to finish because it's challenging and requires more determination- but that's the kind of attitude that develops character and helps you learn more and go further. And I can take that value further than just in class and apply it to my life.

I was just wondering if you guys have any values or something like that that motivates you? I've been thinking about this a lot lately because I have so many commitments with my time and I want to do everything to the best of my ability.

All you need is love!

I just discovered this adorable etsy store full of cute, quirky and inspiring art to make you feel all warm inside. A few of these dotted around my house would be a good pick me up if I'm ever feeling down. I'm feeling very positive today so let me just say, here's to an amazing week!

Todays question is: If you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?

(another amazing swedish photographer)

Todays question is: If you could do anything you wanted, what would you do?

So if money was no issue, what would you do with your life?

I would enlist the help of a few of my very talented friends and make a zine or a photography inspiration book, I'd return to Africa with my husband and travel throughout Europe and Asia.

I love thinking about things like this because I really believe you can make it happen. There's so much I want to do with my life and I don't want to let logic or reason stop me from living my dreams.

xvii

It's been awhile since I've shared a Swedish find with you guys so here is my latest and possibly one of my favourites: xvii, a blog by Swedish twin sisters Julia and Olivia. They both post individually and together and there's lots of outfit photos and inspiration posts- basically the perfect tool if you're looking for an excuse to procrastinate :)

A home with character

A beautifully inspiring home, full of some of my favourite types of personal touches- tins, pretty jars and canisters, white washed furniture, tea cups, books and lots of framed pictures. I could see myself living in a home like this!

Check out the rest of the pictures at Cotton Blues flickr.

In other news I am in the process of cleaning up my blog sponsors. Please email me at amanda.ellen.thomas@gmail.com if you are interested in advertising on Here Comes the Sun and I will give you more information. Thanks :)

Todays question is: Who's your favourite photographer?

Yuli Sato, Montreal Canada.

Todays question is: Who's your favourite photographer?

There are so many talented and inspiring photographers out there who's work I love looking at and I was wondering who you guys like? It's always good to find new photographers to admire!

I have so many favourites but some I always return to are Sarah Hermans, Yvette Inufio, Anna Wolf, Lisa Scheynius and Cari Ann Wayman (yyellowbird).

Share yours with me :)
