Write me a letter?

(Wild Goose Chase)

There's something so magical about handwritten letters and pretty wrapping paper! Lately I've been trying to get away from facebook and email and get back into snail mail and I've been loving coming home to discover little treats in my mail box.

If anyone wants a penpal let me know :)

dailybooth

Come and join me on dailybooth! The concept is simple- take a picture of yourself everyday. I guess it could seem kind of narcissistic but it's fun and I thought since I don't share any of my own pictures on my blog that it would be a fun alternative. Check out my account and come join.

Art Pixie

One of my favourite tumblr accounts that I can always count on for a burst of inspiration is Art Pixie and today I discovered there's also an Art Pixie blog, filled with more inspirational beauty and some of her own photography too! So happy right now.

You can also check out her Flickr, Shop, Formspring, and Listography for more.

Andrew Bannecker

Andrew Bannecker is a super talented designer, artist and illustrator hailing from LA. I've seen a few of his show posters for different artists such as Bat for Lashes before but never known who the brain behind the beauty was, but today I happily stumbled upon his website showcasing his amazing work. I love how his pictures tell a story and are always a bit off beat and quirky.

It's in the details

Browsing the archives of 100 Layer Cake looking at hundreds upon hundreds of beautiful wedding pictures is an easy way to pass the time. I love noticing the little details in the decor and it makes me think back to when i got married and how fun it was adding little touches to make sure my big day is as special and memorable as possible. It was such a fun time in my life, I wish I could do it all over again!

hoot hoot!

(pictures by Wolvessss)

An owl collection to rival many! I'm not a huge owl collector but there is definitely something charming about them and I do have a few around my home. I'd really like a little collection of deers as well to give my owlies some company. What do you collect?

She & Him - In the Sun

I don't know how I haven't seen this video clip until now but I LOVE it! This weekend some friends introduced me to the glory that is Zooey Deschanel dancing around a high school in the music clip for In the Sun and I've been thrashing it non stop ever since. How adorable is she?!

Who are you? Part II

(credit)

Some of you might remember last year I did a post, "Who are you?" to find out a little more about my readers. Well I've been thinking it's time for another "who are you" post because my readers and blog have changed so much in the last 6 months.

So if you want to play along just copy and paste this mini survey into the comments section and replace my answers with yours. If you read my blog but don't have a blogger account you can still comment anonymously and just tell me your name in your answers. I'm excited to find out more about who you guys are!

So here we go:

1. How old are you?
22 (almost my birthday though!)
2. Where are you from?
New Zealand
3. What are your favourite websites?
Daydream Lily
Frankie
Dailybooth
See Hear Say
4. What do you do for a living?
I'm a Personal Assistant
5. Where do you want to travel to?
Sweden, France, Italy, all throughout India and Asia

Now it's your turn!

Why so tired?

(Little Apple)

Lately I have been getting so tired all the time. I'm not sick with anything, I get good sleep at night, exercise regularly and eat a healthy diet. I have NO idea what's causing it but I was wondering if you guys had any "pick me up" suggestions. Like, what is something good to eat or drink during the day that will keep me going? Please no suggestions of coffee or energy drinks- I'm looking for something that won't make me crash later in the day.

Lacey Terrell

Lacey Terrell is a mixed media artist and photographer from California and I am in LOVE with her butterfly series! I've always had a soft spot for anything with butterflies on it since thrashing "Me and the Moon" by Something Corporate back in the day.

Keep Calm and Carry On: Things I never knew

I love Keep Calm and Carry On and all the merchandise they produce but something I never knew (and maybe I'm just behind the ball on this one) but "Keep Calm and Carry On" was actually a propaganda poster produced by the British Government in 1939 at the start of World War II. I had no idea!

But the poster was never used and then the design was rediscovered in 2000 as a decorative theme for merchandise products. I thought it was quite interesting! Unfortunately the products are quite expensive here in New Zealand and so far I don't have any but I wouldn't mind one of those mugs.

Blog of the week: A Collection A Day

Some of you might remember awhile ago I posted about the blog "A Collection A Day" and it's since become one of my favourites.

A Collection A Day is what it says it is- a collection each day! Every day Lisa Congdon draws or photographs a collection of things new and old- stamps, letters, tins, books, etc etc. I love it!

Just one more thing: I also did a guest post today over on Wayside Violet. She's running a little series on hometowns and I blogged about my current city Hamilton. So if you want to know anything about me and the place I live go take a look! There will be more guest posts from other bloggers sharing their hometowns too so keep an eye out :)

What are you reading?

What are you reading at the moment? I'm making a big effort to spend less time online and more time reading. Right now I'm working my way through "The Day of the Triffids" and next in line is "On the Road" by Jack Kerouac which I bought yesterday.

Random acts of kindness

(credit)

Yesterday I arrived at work to find a basket on my desk filled with homemade cup cakes, m&m cookies, fudge and lollies, made by two lovely friends of mine. And it got me thinking, when was the last time I did something spontaneous to bless someone else? Even just something small like leaving a note saying "I love you" can really brighten someones day and I want my amazing friends to feel treasured and appreciated.

So I'm starting my acts of kindness by sending a parcel to my American friend with a bunch of New Zealand goodies she's been missing. I'm feeling kind of excited! Doing something- even if it's small- to bless someone else is a really good feeling!

Edit: I totally wrote this whole post then lost the entire thing... I definitely didn't word it so well the second time around but you get what I mean, right?!

Talented Twinset

Do you guys find that there are some photographers you just always return to, because you know you're guaranteed to always find something amazing from them?

Beautiful and talented twins Marie and Ashlie have been my "go-to" photographers since I began this blog (take a look here, here and here) and they always deliver the most interesting and captivating images.

Check out Maries flickr and Ashlie's website for more beauty.

Here's to reading!

Pictures of my beautiful friend Ayla, taken by Perry Graham.

In light of what I talked about in yesterdays post (being slightly addicted to the internet) I'm going to make more effort this week to get back into reading. I found an old copy of "The Day of the Triffids" (in the classic orange and white Penguin book design, yay) hiding away in my book shelf so I'm starting with that.

Here's to getting into bed just that little bit earlier every night and snuggling up with a good book before you sleep!

And while I'm at it, what are you reading at the moment? I'm up for recommendations too!
