Everything is Illuminated- Johnathan Safron Foer
Middlemarch- George Elliot
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn- Mark Twain
The Day of the Triffids- John Wyndham
The Reader- Bernhard Schlink
This is a list of books I've had sitting on my bookshelf for awhile now and have been meaning to get around to reading. So a few weeks ago I decided to get into them and I've been on a roll so far! And now over the next few weeks or months I'm going to try finish the rest. If any of you have read any of the above I'd love to hear your thoughts on them :) So far I have to say Memoirs of a Geisha was incredible, but I have actually enjoyed them all.

Also I wanted to ask a wee question: Are outfit posts something you would be interested in seeing on here? I've never done it before and I feel a little shy.. but if there is an interest in seeing them I could perhaps share a few posts of what I'm wearing every now and then :)
Edit: Also 2 more things:
- I have a new post up on Hello Holga, I'd love it if you checked out and followed
- Also if you have a spare sec to vote for me on the Lovelies that'd be amazing! Thank you!

Yes! I would love to see outfit posts! I've been following your blog for around six months now - it is so beautiful! You post the most beautiful, inspiring pictures and I'm sure your outfits must be equally beautiful. <3
ReplyDeletePlease, please post outfit posts.

Yes! :) So excited to see some.
ReplyDeleteA terrific list and bravo for getting through them so quickly!
ReplyDeleteI started to read Middlemarch in December but had to put it aside for another time - loved it, just the wrong season here for reading about the cool English countryside - hot and humid in my pocket of the world.
I've read everything else on your list except for 'Everything is Illuminated' thank you for introducing me to it, I'll be putting it on my list of 52 books in 52 weeks.

I LOVE Middlemarch! good choice :)
ReplyDeleteNope! Haven't read any of these. But I just finished "The Help". It was really, really good!
ReplyDeleteOoh, I read Day of the Triffids at school and have been meaning to re-read it to see what I think of it as a grown up!
ReplyDeleteinteresting list!!
ReplyDeletecatcher in the rye is one of my favorite book. it's so ¨honest n true¨, nothing's ¨phony¨.
by the way it would be more interesting if you show us your outfit. i'm thinking to post the new clothes i've bought this new year sales. please inspire me =).
So, I'm super curious. Where are the books in the second image from? I recognize the first image as the Penguin Classics. But I'm dying to know about the designs on the books in the second image.

your sense of style seems so lovely + I'd definitely like to see some outfit posts!
ReplyDeleteHow was Breakfast at Tiffany's as a book? I always wonder about reading it but I wonder if i'm too in love with the film to be able to enjoy it as much, especially if its too different.
ReplyDeleteI love majority of those books. As far as Jonathan Safran Foer is concerned. I loved "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" more.
ReplyDeleteJonathan Safran Foer's work is an absolute delight to read.
ReplyDeleteI thought 'Everything Is Illuminated' was great, which got me looking into his other work.
By doing that, I found his novel 'Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close' - now, that, my dear, is, most definitely, worth a read.
Fellow book-a-holic, up-high *raises hand for a high-five*!
Adore your blog!
Amanda, YES! Outfit posts!! It will be awesome! I read your blog regularly (in fact, it's in my top ten - recommended links on my blog) and I love your style, and I would love to see more of how you put that into clothes! :)
ReplyDeleteyes to outfits! i loved reading 1984, it was one of those books that i could not put down
ReplyDeleteI am also currently reading Everything is illuminated and I have to say it's pretty hilarious!
ReplyDeleteAlso, Catcher in the Rye is my favourite book of all time.
Reading challenges are the best! There's nothing quite like curling up in bed with with a book.
if you liked the salinger than i strongly encourage you to read his other works.. i've read all of them and catcher in the rye is my least favorite, i think his best is franny and zooey... it is seriously amazing.
ReplyDeleteThose books in that first picture are so pretty and elegant looking! I enjoy seeing outfit posts, so go for it. The only one of those that I have read is 1984 and I loved it. I am a big fan of utopia/dystopia novels. Come check out my blog if you haven't yet. I could always use more followers, if you enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see outfit post! :)
ReplyDeleteNice collection :D
ReplyDeleteI think you can talk about mmm where you live, because I´m from Central america ejejeje, its different i think.
Take care
Yay! Outfit posts would be wonderful. :) Thanks for reminding me what a great book Memoirs of a Geisha is...I've been meaning to reread that one.
ReplyDeleteI heart J.D. Salinger. Have you read Franny and Zooey? That's my favorite Salinger book. :D
I absolutely LOVE Breackfast at Tiffany's. It's completely different to the movie and watching the movie first there are a few things in it that don't make sense. Reading the book I absolutely love the other little stories within it. You should deffinetly check out Playing with the Grown Ups from Sophie Dahl. If you enjoy those stories, I think you would this.
ReplyDeletePs. Outifit posts are fun, give it a go! I'm a little ot self conscious to do it myself haha :D
this looks like a great list of books! I've read Breakfast at Tiffany's, Catcher in the Rye (my favourite book of all times, a sort of 'teenage bible'), Memoirs of a Geisha, The Adventures of Hucklberry Finn and The Reader. My faves of these would have to be Capote and Salinger :)
ReplyDeleteand I love outfit posts! would be cool to see them :)
Yes please do outfit posts, any outfit snippets you have done in the past have been rather lovely, so it would be great to see more.
ReplyDeletexx
I'd love to see your outfit posts! Definately go for it!

An outfit post would be lovely. :)
ReplyDelete*and I LOVE the catcher in the rye- its one of my absolute favourites! <3
everything is illuminated! i hope you like it. the reader was also pretty good. i am a book addict, i appreciate your list :)
ReplyDeleteabsolutely read 'the reader' as soon as possible! it is one of my favorite books and i read it in one morning because i couldn't put it down. also, i was not disappointed in the film that was created either and usually if i read the book first i hate the film.
ReplyDeleteI finished Everything is illuminated last week and I really don't understand why people like it. It was so confusing and kind of boring actually.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like 1984 either, so maybe my taste in books is a bit special, don't know :)
I think that you should definitely do an outfit post! go for it! I have been visiting your blog often and you really choose great photos and posts for it.
ReplyDeleteToday, I posted about my favorite swimsuits by my friend and swimwear designer, Marysia... I think that you would like them... go see")
Best! Barbara
Everything is Illuminated! Definitely a must-read.
ReplyDeleteI know this is a terrible thing to do but I have already seen the movie version of the Reader so I would definitely recommend that if the film is anything to go by.
ReplyDeleteI'd also love to see a few outfit posts.
Hi! I'm very new to the blogging scene so I totally get why you're shy about doing outfit posts, but I think you'd rock it. Based on your blog design, you've got a killer style - I reckon go for it!
ReplyDeleteyes do the outfit posts, I already know you have awesome outfits (hehe fb stalker much?)
ReplyDeleteoh and you have 3 of my all time favourite books on that list, Catcher in the Rye, 1984 & Memoirs of a Geisha.
@Carolina ~ I think they are a collection of the great covers over the years 1960-1970, by David Pearson? http://www.davidpearsondesign.com/penguinbydesign.html
Where did you snag that second photo of books from? I love them, and want to make them mine! :)
ReplyDeleteLeslie
