Counting Down

Since we got married Jeremy and I have tried to take one overseas trip a year to get away, relax, explore and recharge. This year that trip is taking us across the ditch to visit Liss on the Gold Coast. There's only one week until our adventure begins and I seriously cannot stop thinking about it! Aside from the normal holiday pleasures like sleeping in, reading and going out for as many meals as possible, here are some of the things I'm looking forward to:

♥ Going to the night markets at Surfers Paradise
♥ Going up the Q1 (one of the tallest buildings in the southern hemisphere)
♥ Scaring myself on the rides at Dreamworld
♥ Day trip to Brisbane for exploring and shopping
♥ Meeting other bloggers & catching up with friends
♥ And of course soaking up the sun on the beautiful beaches

If you think I'm missing anything important let me know! We've never been to the Goldie before and are quite excited for it!

  4. I'm definitely gonna have a goal like this once I actually start earning a decent salary. I've already decided I'm spending New Years in New York with my bestie once we've finished college.

  7. I loooove the Gold Coast, haha! I really wanted to stay at the Q1 hotel when I was there, actually, but it's expensive, of course. Have fun!

  10. Unfortunately the surfers markets are a bit of a flop - the Burleigh village markets on the other hand are something you will LOVE! But Im sure Liss will take you there.

if you have time a day trip to Byron is worth doing, and there are lots of cool little cafes and shops around.

Q1 is defense great for a look- so high and such a different view of the GC. hope you have a ball!!

  12. That's so exciting! I can't think of anything too 'must-do'... maybe I've lived in Brisbane too long!
Mt Tambourine is always interesting, and you'll prob be closer.
I like seaworld best because of all the animals.
I pretty much go down the coast for Harbourtown shopping and mini golf :)
Hope you have fun over here!!

  17. Hi Amanda,

i'm a resident of the Gold Coast but work at Brisbane so I get the best of both worlds :) I'd recommend the following places to you:

    1) Burleigh Heads on GC - lots of great cafes, boutique shop (my fave is Urban Groove. They have lots of cute necklaces) and the best beach (in my opinion) on the Coast!
    2) Paddington in Bris - great vintage shopping, great cafes, second-hand book shops and boutique art galleries
    3) Woolongabba in Bris - good selection of boutique wine bars, cafes and vintage shops
    4) Coolongatta - for a day out in the beach, this is the best spot on the Coast

Have fun and keep up the great work on your blog :)

  20. I agree with all the points peiwen_k said. We are going to Burliegh for sure to visit the Element shop, and dinner from my favourite vego resturant :)

also Paddington is my favourite suburb in Brisbane so we will go there for sure.

and I think the village markets are on this sunday, so we can go to them too and commune for lunch after. or brekfast at commune and then markets.

and we are going to coolongatta to another resturant I like there :)

  22. Ohhh I love the Gold Coast. Defo do a trip to Byron Bay and up Tamborine Mountain. We also used to hire a boat and go cruising the canals steering at all of the amazing water front houses. Not expensive to hire a boat either, suprisingly! Also you must go for a walk through Main beach and check out the cool cafes and yes, you have to do Burleigh/coolengatta! Amy x

  23. While you're in Brisbane make sure you check out this gorgeous little store called Ra Ra Superstar (http://www.rarasuperstar.com/) who sells vintage and one off pieces.

    Have fun!

  24. You have to hit up Rainbow Bay on the coast..it is the best. If you make it south to Byron, come say hi!!
