To Be Adored

This weekend has been a busy one with a conference on at church, meaning very little sleep or downtime. But in-between running back and forth from sessions I've discovered the latest lookbook from TBA and spent a good amount of time swooning over the dreamy images and equally dreaming clothing. I love how it almost has a Little House on the Prairie or Beatrix Potter type feel to it.

If any of you already own some clothing from TBA you can hit up their facebook page and leave a picture of yourself wearing your items and a link to your blog and the rest of the lookbook images are there as well.

A Christchurch update

(a few before and after shots from around Christchurch. More here)

Hey friends, today is day 5 of the unfolding tragedy in Christchurch New Zealand. As I currently write this there has not been a recovery since Wednesday afternoon, which of course is very worrying as there are still hundreds of people missing. At the moment the death toll is standing at 113 and families of the missing have been told by the police to "expect the worst".

So far we have received help from Australia, Japan, Singapore, Britain and the USA as well as offers from Taiwan, Israel, Canada and China. The support from people all around the world has been amazing during this difficult time. Thank you for sending your love and prayers our way.

For those of you who would like to contribute financially there are a few links below. Have a nice weekend xx

Update: The death toll has now risen to 145 with 200 people still missing.

Sesame Letterpress Store

I've always been a sucker for beautiful stationery, so it was no surprise that I started swooning when I stumbled upon the Sesame Letterpress Store. Run by a husband and wife team in New York, they specialise in custom printing projects such as invitations, stationery and limited editions artists' publications. So pretty!

Winter wishes

We've had a long, hot summer here in New Zealand but it's come to the time of year where my thoughts have turned to warm winter layers, hot soup, snuggly days inside and the sound of rain on the roof while I fall asleep.

Over the last couple of weeks I've been bookmarking some inspiration for my winter wardrobe and I recently noticed that there's been quite a consistent colour palette flowing through all my ideas so it seems like this winter will be full of black, navy blue, maroon/ burgundy, grey marle and tan. This is pretty good for me cause I can so easily get stuck only wearing black and white, so I'm happy to say I'll be branching out!

Mink Pink Winter 2011

The newly released lookbook from Australian brand Mink Pink is nothing short of beautiful. What makes me most happy about it is the splashes of maroon/ burgundy in the colour palette. That colour is my new obsession at the moment and I have an upcoming post to share on here about how much I love it, so it's great to know where I'll be able to get it from this winter!

If you're looking to buy any Mink Pink items you could always head over to Market HQ site, they've just uploaded a bunch of new products to the store and there are so many amazing, wearable pieces I'm swooning over.

Also thanks for all your love to New Zealand yesterday. I will update you more on the weekend with how the situation is unfolding. Thank you for your prayers and thoughts in this tragic time.

Tragedy in Christchurch

Hey friends if you haven't heard already today has been a tragic day for my country. An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 occurred in the Christchurch CBD, causing complete chaos including loss of life (as I write this the death toll is at 65 but could rise), collapsed buildings, roads torn apart, burst pipes pouring sewage through the streets, people missing and homes destroyed. It has quickly become New Zealand's second biggest natural disaster and it is so heartbreaking watching the footage on tv and seeing the destruction and panic.

A few links/ thoughts for any fellow New Zealanders reading this:
- Donations can be made here: http://www.redcross.org.nz/donate
- You can call 0800 448 325 to arrange a time to give blood
- Google has created a Person Finder for any of you looking to locate a loved one
- Vodafone & Telecom are asking people not to make calls unless urgent so please text instead if possible
- 111 system was down but it is now back up and running if you need it

And to everyone else, if you could say a prayer for Christchurch and everyone affected that would be amazing.

Lastly I just want to share a tweet I read that really touched my heart:

"One thing that tragedies like this remind us- people are more important than buildings. We will rebuild buildings. We have lost people forever. "

Sorry this isn't like my normal posts but my heart is in mourning for my country right now. If anyone has any useful links please leave a comment with them and I'll add them up as well.

The weekend that was

Over the weekend Ilana from See Me Everywhere and I went to a Luau themed birthday and dragged our husbands into the photobooth for some fun with the camera and props. When I saw these pictures I couldn't believe how long my hair has gotten! It's something you don't really realise until you see pictures like this and it's dangling around your belt- crazy! Normally by now I would have gotten bored and gone for the chop but I think I am going to enjoy this length for a little while longer before I get the courage to do something different to it.

Hope you all had a lovely weekend x

Bowie, Ditto, Gaga

Australian artist Lilly Piri has recently illustrated cat versions of some iconic musicians- including David Bowie, Lady Gaga and Beth Ditto. Pretty cute if you ask me! I'm especially stoked on the Bowie piece because as most of you know I have a little kitty called Ziggy Stardust. Thanks Liss for sharing these with me :)

Lilly also has an etsy where you can commission her to illustrate a portrait of your pet and I have to admit I'm pretty tempted to get my kittens immortalized in ink next time I have some spare pennies.

For more work from Lily check out her official website.

Two

Two is a project by two friends (Beth and Carissa) with two photographs. It's a simple idea but I love it: One post a week, one theme each month. So far we saw "home" as the theme for January and for this month the theme is "love". I'm looking forward to watching this project unfold this year. I'd love to do something like this myself but I don't think I'd be very good at keeping up the weekly commitment!
