Hey guys. So as most of you will know my husband and I got two little kittens about a year and a half ago. Ziggy (the tabby) and Rocky (the black one) immediately became best friends and fit into our little world so perfectly. Unfortunately, over night Ziggy was hit by a car and killed on the road outside our home. We are so so sad and are going to miss the crazy little guy so much, but also can still smile at the memories of his larger than life personality and all the good times we shared. So this post is a tribute our little man and some of our favourite moments together.
Just a few of Ziggy's cute wee poses as he slept or snuggled on the bed. He was the type of cat that if you were home for the day would spend the day inside with you instead of doing his typical cat stuff. So many of my memories of putting together blog posts include trying to balance both him and and my computer on my lap and him distracting me from what I was trying to do.
Ziggy and Jeremy had a special bond. The photo on the right is a typical way Jeremy would carry Ziggy around the house and he would just stay there enjoying the ride.Making himself at home in my bathroom sink! My phone is actually way too full of pictures of me catching him doing this. I'd always stop him and boot him out but couldn't resist snapping a few pictures first.
Some more funny memories with him and Jeremy. People food was always much more interesting and enticing to him than his own food and whenever we had something different he'd try his best to score a nibble or two. (Side note - his favourite people food was salt and vinegar chips)
This was my last picture with him taken just a few days ago. You can't see it in the frame but my lap top was actually on my knees as well and this was one of those balancing blogging and cat snuggling times I was talking about.
So today has been horrible. I was actually away on a girl weekend and got the phone call from my husband this morning to break the news. Such a sad time right now and Rocky - our other cat is very confused and running around looking for his friend. We had a burial with some close friends this afternoon and laid him to rest in the backyard.
He's left such a big whole in this family but I have a phone and a Macbook photobooth full of memories of the best times together. Rest in peace little friend x

ReplyDeleteSo, so sorry to hear about Ziggy. I know how terrible it feels to lose a pet and how it feels like a part of the family is missing. You're so lucky to have all these pictures of him attached to all different memories. He looks like a cat with such a personality and he will be sorely missed! xx

ReplyDeleteThe part you can't see in the photos from Ziggy and I was that we shared way too much food. He also would drink my beer. He was always so naughty and so loving. Whenever we came home he would run to meet us and climb up on this post on the way to our door so he could snuggle our faces on the way past.
ReplyDeleteThat is so sad! But it is amazing how much space those little creatures get in our hearts.
ReplyDeleteThe memories will last forever. Cats is just so wonderful a animal. Take good Care of the one you have left.

ReplyDeleteWe had a cat when I was growing up and my dad decided to give him away, and the sad part was that the last photo I took of him the day we gave him away didn't develop properly because there wasn't enough light in my room :(

ReplyDeleteHi there, this is my first time commenting on one of your posts, but I just had to say how sorry I am. I know what you must be feeling, and hope having your other cat Rocky and giving him some extra snuggles will get you through this. Ziggy looked like such a curious lil guy and full of character, not to mention super cute.
ReplyDeleteSorry again to ear this news.
Take care, Nikki from Scotland x
I'm so so sorry for your loss. I only can imagine what you're going through... That story mackes me sad! He really was quite the little character and also I think he was lucky to be able to spend his life with you guys.
ReplyDeleteFeel hugged. xo.
My goodness, I have tears in my eyes. Coincidentally I have a similar looking tabby nammed Zibby, as well as another recently adopted kitten, and I love them more than anything. I'd be devestated if something happened to them. My thoughts are with you xx
ReplyDeleteOur cat was hit in january and survived, and then we spent a week or two waiting to see how paralyzed he was. It was a brain injury, and affected both left legs...if he hadn't regained use, we would have had to put him down. It was AWFUL . He's mostly okay now, but fencing our yard. I'm so sorry for your loss. I saw a deleted comment or two, and I can guess what was said. Ill say my cat was/is an outside cat-his outside life was so important to him. Friends with the neighbors, their kids, other cats, even dogs. He had visitors that brought him tuna! No regrets. You do the best you can. Lots of hugs, and rescue a shelter cat when youre ready. That thought was the only thing that helped me...we were prepared to have two cats, so I'd put his spot to good use. Xoxo
ReplyDeleteso sorry to hear this, thinking of you xo
