Over the last few years in Hamilton Jeremy and I have developed a few favourite food spots throughout the city. Whether we're in the mood for Mexican, Japanese, a fantastic brunch menu, ice creams or good coffee - we have our favourites that we regularly return to. One of the places we'll miss the most when we make the move to Auckland is River Kitchen cafe (on Victoria St, for any locals reading this). Amazing menu, great coffee, cute decor and in winter they pass out blankets and hot water bottles to keep you nice and toasty. It is definitely one of my favourite spots in the city!
For any kiwis reading this what are your favourite Auckland cafes? We'll need a new place for coffee & brunch in the city and I'd love to hear your recommendations. Only one month until we move now, I have to admit I'm starting to count down!

I live in Hamilton but I just had a birthday brunch in Auckland at Portside Cafe and Bar on the viaduct. Was really nice. I will have to check out your recommendation too

Little & Friday!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many good places in akl, it's hard to think of a top few! Little & Friday in Takapuna and Cosset in Mt Albert come to mind but there are lots more! You'll have fun exploring them, I'm sure! :)
ReplyDeleteim so gonna check this place out! sounds mean as :)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely need to go to Orvieto Cafe in Three Kings on Mt Eden Road for their hash browns meal. Homemade hashbrowns with eggs and roasted tomatoes. AMAZE! Anything is good on the menu and the coffee is always good!
ReplyDeleteHehe I spent some long days in that River Kitchen Cafe. You should tell Brent (head chef) about your post on the cafe :) He'd be stoked.
ReplyDeleteCafe Paris in Howick is amazing and so cozy! xx Elly @ jazzlipsandtulips
ReplyDeleteOh, my goodness! That food looks so good, I want to lick the screen. Is that weird? I might almost want to cross the great wide ocean for that food.
ReplyDeleteRiver kitchen is the best place in town for coffee, I like going in and saying "hi" to my friend who works there.
ReplyDeleteI lived in Auckland for a while, and Jaffa and Okra were my favourite. Definitely check out Jaffa, it's pretty much the best in town. There's another one that does art on your coffee but the name escapes me.
Aw, I love River Kitchen! Their ricotta and apple hotcakes are pretty much the best. I'll miss seeing familiar places around Hamilton on your blog - but can't wait to discover some fun Auckland spots through you!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I second the Cosset reccomendation! Really yummy baking and homemade sodas, plus the decor is adorable.
Takapuna has some really nice spots, it's worth a walk around :-) I also remember there was a nice cafe at lake pupuke, only a little walk from the center. I can't be much help with names of places but Devonport too has cute cafes.
ReplyDeleteMmm looks yum! I love Twenty Three on Mt Eden Road, and Mamata in Grey Lynn for the most incredible bagels!

ReplyDeleteTake your Hubby on a date to Deus Ex Machina in central Auckland. Spacious warehouse cafe with an old motorbike theme and exhibition. It's quite fun and a hit with boys!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely Cosset- Amazing vegan food and the cutest decor ever. And Okra is very cool too and do exquisite orange juices!
