As someone who is a.) a blogger and therefore constantly documenting life and b.) completely in love with nature, I'll often be driving somewhere and see something that captures my eye and will stop to snap a few pictures. Yesterday on the way home from doing the groceries I spotted these gorgeous yellow leaves and couldn't resist pulling over to take some shots. And thank goodness I did. Straight away I noticed the sound of a very stressed meow coming from somewhere close to me. Eventually I found the source- a cute little kitten stuck at the top of a very tall tree!
The lowest branch was at least two and a half times my height so I had no hope of getting up there myself. A neighbor came out and said they'd rung the fire brigade 20 minutes ago and they were going to come. I knew I couldn't leave though and had to stay and see the poor thing rescued, for my own peace of mind. I waited 40 minutes and no one came so I called the fire brigade myself and they said they were too busy to come (which I understand) but I wasn't just going to leave a stranded kitten.
A friend came to the rescue with a ladder and we got the little guy down. We went to ALL the surrounding homes but unfortunately it's a long weekend here and no one seemed to be home. We took him to the vet to see if he's micro chipped and unfortunately he's not. For the time being the vet sent out a fax to all the clinics with his description and where he was found and he's up on the SPCA site too.
So that's been my weekend so far! Isn't he the cutest little thing? He's so sweet natured as well. I wish we could keep him but it won't work with us about to move to a new city so we're hoping he can be reunited with his family asap or adopted by someone who really wants a kitten. I'm just glad I happened to stop by the park to take pictures or I'd hate to think what could have happened.

ReplyDeleteWe bought my mum and dad a new kitten after my cat died a couple of years ago. His first foray outside he climbed a tree and then was very distressed to find he couldn't get down! we got a sheet below him just in case he fell, and dad got up on the roof to get him down!
