5 Simple Goals - An Update

This time last month I set myself 5 Simple Goals that I wanted to achieve before the end of the year. I didn't want these goals to be like new years resolutions (forgotten within hours) so I've been trying to hold myself accountable and thought I'd give you a one month update. So here's how I've been doing:

1. Learn new recipes.
This has been going well! I've been trying to bake a little (which is a big deal for me) and I've been trying to branch out in terms of the meals I cook too.

2. Use my film cameras again
So far, no progress here. Still a little too distracted by instagram & my DSLR. I don't know if it counts but I did buy film for my instax mini again so I've been enjoying that.

3. Run 200kms.
I'm well on my way to my goal with this one! Last month when I wrote my goals I was at 82kms and now I'm at 122km and tracking well to easily complete this goal in time.

4. Finish reading Game of Thrones.
I have to admit, this goal may have defeated me. As much as I love the TV show and as much as I love the story lines and characters, I've been really struggling with the books. I don't know what it is about them but I've taken a temporary hiatus to read something else for the meantime.

5. Make an editorial calendar.
This goal has been semi-achieved in a weird kind of way. I've completely mapped out all the posts I want to make for December, but somehow for November I was a little stumped. Which is unfortunate seeing as November is just around the corner and I have much more time up my sleeve to get organised for December. But Dec is always so easy with Christmas wishlists to share and 'the best of 2012' roundups.

  2. These are great goals! I used to use my film cameras a lot but film development cost too much so now I use my old lenses with my dele since they're both Nikon

  3. I find it surprising that you weren't able to read the books as smoothly, specially since I wasn't able to put them down for a second until I finished the last one!

  5. Well done on your goals so far! :)
I'm working away at my running goal so far. I'd like to think I could finish 200km by the end of the year too, but since I only started a month ago and am a beginner, I think that may be unrealistic. I'm going to try for 150; I'm at 59km now, so I think I can do it. :)

  6. 200kms! How long does that take you?
20kms is just under a half marathon, is that what you meant?

  9. Hi anonymous!

What I mean is, 200kms in total. I use the Nike+ app to track my runs and it gives me an ongoing total of how many kms I have run this year.

I normally run anywhere between 3 and 6 kms per run and they all add up! I try to get my total to around 12kms per week and I want my overall total to equal 200kms before the end of the year :)

  10. I just started running and I am nowhere near you of course! I am trying to set small goals for myself and work my way up.

    You can do it!
