I've been such a good blogger lately! 3 outfit posts in one week has to be some kind of record for me. I think it's mostly down to the fact that Jeremy and I are in love with our new lens and enjoying learning to shoot manually so much that's just fun to have an excuse to get out and use the camera. Have you guys noticed the difference? It's so much fun to be able to play with the depth of field now, rather than in shots like this where everything appears so flat and one dimensional. We're learning!!
This dress (yes it's a dress, not a top, but it's way too tight/short to be worn alone) is also a bit different for me but with summer coming I wanted to start adding some colours and pastels to my wardrobe. I was hoping to pair it with my high waisted denim shorts but sadly they're nowhere to be found!

I love the simple little things that make me happy - like coming home to fresh strawberries and new nail polishes in the mail. Quite a nice way to kick off my weekend! I've never really worn such a barbie-pink nail polish before but it feels nice and bright and summery. It's called Elephantastic pink if you're looking for some yourself. Enjoy your weekend :)

Tonight we went out to the movies (we saw Looper with Joseph Gordon Levitt and Emily Blunt - it was amazing) and took a few pictures on the way. I know I've gushed enough about my love for cherry blossoms already, but seriously this city is littered with them at the moment and it makes me so happy.

Last night while out for a run I discovered this cherry blossom lined street and I knew I had to return to snap a few pictures. Everyone seems to swoon so much over Autumn, and though I do love it too, I had to say I think Spring is my favourite. There's nothing quite like streets full of cherry blossoms and magnolia trees!
On another note, it's been a long time since I've worn a denim shirt but when I saw this one at Market HQ I knew I had to have it. I think this summer my wardrobe will be full of denim, lace and lots of white and pastels!

I've been playing around with my new lens this week and therefore snapping pictures of anything and everything around me. The latest test-subject ended up being my kitchen and I actually quite liked how the pictures turned out so I thought I'd share them here. I love my little kitchen nook and all the little bits and pieces that make it my own. My stickygram fridge magnets, my stack of recipe books, vintage tea cups and tea pots and fresh growing basil. Ah, home sweet home!

This year is going so fast and it feels like 2013 is just around the corner. New years resolutions for most of us are probably just distant memories by now. So I thought I would set myself 5 simple goals to achieve by the end of the year. Here they are:
1. Make an editorial calendar: Life is busy. I'm balancing my career, blogging, family, a social life and exercise. Sometimes it's hard to find a time for it all, so making a calendar or guide for my blog will help me map out what I want to share on here, and also in the long run save me time. No more sitting staring at a blank screen waiting hours for inspiration to hit!
2. Use my film cameras more: As much as I love my DSLR and instagram, film was my first love and it's time to get back to it. I'm sad to say I can't remember the last time I got a roll developed! I have a pretty good collection of film cameras just collecting dust - what a waste!
3. Finish reading Game of Thrones: (well, the ones that are out so far). As much as I'm enjoying this series, I'm also finding it really challenging. It's just such a different style to what I normally read, so it's taking me much longer to get through. Which is also annoying because I love the story lines so much and want to know how things unfold!
4. Learn new recipes: I've been doing pretty well with this goal, so this is more a reminder than anything. I really love cooking but it can be easy to buy the same old groceries and cook the same old meals, so I just want to continue to branch out and try different things.
5. Run 200kms: I use the Nike+ app to tracking my running and so far I've clocked 82kms. So making it to 200kms by the end of the year is actually really achievable (it equates to less than 10kms per week), so I'm really hoping I can smash this goal!
And that's it :) All simple, all achievable, and all worth getting through by the end of the year! Let me know if you join in with any goals too!
P.S I know I spelt calendar wrong when I hand wrote it. Not sure how that happened? I hate that kind of thing but I haven't had a chance to re-take the photo yet. Oops.

This is how my weekend has looked so far. We slept in a little, went for a run, and then went to Cornwall Park (at One Tree Hill) for a picnic underneath a canopy of cherry blossoms. It was so good to relax, unwind, people watch and eat good food together. Sometimes the best weekends aren't the ones with a millions plans and things to do, but the ones where you have the freedom to take it easy and do as you wish.

As I mentioned last week, I've been getting braver with shooting manual and learning more about DSLR photography, so I treated myself to my first non-kit lens. I'm just starting out so need to arm myself with the basics, and after consulting my more knowledgeable friend Liss, I ended up purchasing a 50mm prime lens. It arrived today and we had fun having our first play around with it! I especially love that top picture, although I do apologise for my crinkled clothing. Oops! Next question is, what lens do I get next? Suggestions please :)

Confession: over the last month or two I've become a bit of a couch potato (minus a few half-hearted sit ups and press ups here and there). In a way I blamed it on winter and it being too cold and rainy to get active and outdoors, but really that's no excuse.
But in the last couple of weeks I've been getting up and off the couch, and back into being active, eating healthy and making good decisions. Once you get going with it all, it's easy to make it routine. Sometimes it's the getting started that's the hardest part. So I thought I would share with you a few websites and apps that have helped me to get motivated and that encourage me along the health/ fitness journey. Let me know your favourites in the comments!
♥ Calorie tracking: I've said it before and I'll say it again - I love My Fitness Pal. It's such an easy way to track your food and exercise and keep yourself accountable. You can add your friends and encourage each other to stick within your limits.
♥ Exercise tracking: My other favourite app is the Nike+ running app, I strap it on as I run and use it to measure my distance/ speed/ calories burned. It's great because you can compare all your runs and it congratulates you every time you achieve a personal best.
♥ Healthy cooking: I use Healthy Food Guide for most of my recipes. Every recipe gives you a full breakdown of the calories and nutritional value.
♥ Reading blogs: My latest favourite healthy blog is Julia & Libby. They're sisters who blog about health and nutrition, and they have a lot of helpful knowledge to share.
♥ Inspirational quotes: I'll be honest, I quite like a 'fitspiration meme'. And by that, I mean ones that promote motivation, health and fitness, not ones focused on unhealthy body image. Use your discretion, but I think this Facebook page is pretty good: Eat Clean, Train Mean.
♥ Learn from others: Sometimes the best motivation is hearing the story of someone who's already been there before. Last year when I very first needed a push to get fit and healthy (when I had been off track for almost a year, not just a month or so like this time) I found Tieka from Selective Potential's story really helpful. Just a few snap shots from throughout this weekend. It's been a good one! Good food, shared breakfasts, precious down time and drinking wine in a claw footed bath tub (it just seemed like the logical thing to do at the time).
And now it's back to reality: the rest of my weekend plans consist solely of housework. Better get to it! x
