Golden Sunset

Rainbow Lilac Tank & Mink Pink Skater Skirt c/o Market HQ | Marc by Marc Jacobs sunglasses | Cotton On jandals

I guess it's not often you'd see a style post that involves barefeet and/or jandals? But I'm a kiwi and this is our summer uniform pretty much! Light layers, bright colours, barefeet and gorgeous weather. I can't imagine dressing up in heels and expensive clothing when all I want to do is kick off my shoes, feel my toes in the sand and take a dip in the sea!

This was also our first time taking pictures at sunset in awhile and I have to admit that I'm a fan of the tricks that the light plays at this time of day! I don't look nearly as pasty white as I actually am haha. Just looking at these pictures has me so excited for summer!!

Weekend Diaries

This weekend we: spent hours wandering around town in the sun, fell in love with plush toys, ate good food, bought fresh produce, explored different corners of the city, took lots of photos, cooled down with gelato and enjoyed each others company. It was close to perfect.

One Tree Hill

This weekend was a good one. In between food dates, long runs (Jeremy did his first 15k, so proud!), dvds and relaxation, we managed to squeeze in a few outfit photos too. This floral top is a new addition to my wardrobe and I have to say I love the cut out details of the back. I was worried I was going to get some strange tan lines from wandering around in the sun with it on, but I don't know what I was bothered about - I forgot my body doesn't tan! Haha.

I'll be back tomorrow with a round up of all our weekend snapshots. I went a little crazy with the camera this weekend so I'm trying to cut it down from 100+ to a concise 10 or so. Typical blogger huh

Moustache Milk & Cookie Bar

Jeremy and I have been wanting to visit the Moustache Milk & Cookie Bar for so long and yesterday we finally got around to it. I had chocolate milk and a white chocolate and macadamia biscuit and Jeremy had strawberry milk and classic chocolate chip. Both were fresh from the oven and absolutely amazing. I can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu!

Sail Away

Thin gold rings from Sabo Skirt | Sail Away dress c/o Market HQ | Sandals unknown

The weather is slowly but surely getting warmer here. And I love how with the warmer weather, dressing suddenly becomes so much easier. No more layering, it's now as simple as throwing on a dress and some sandals. And I love it. My summer wardrobe usually boils down to just a few things: light, summer dresses, t-shirt + short combos and sportswear.

Anyway, the weekend is here and I'm quite excited for it! My plans consist of fitting in as many runs as possible, catching up on blog posts and finally visiting the Moustache Milk & Cookie Bar. (We had plans to go there another time, but turns out they're closed on Sundays).

5 Simple Goals - An Update

This time last month I set myself 5 Simple Goals that I wanted to achieve before the end of the year. I didn't want these goals to be like new years resolutions (forgotten within hours) so I've been trying to hold myself accountable and thought I'd give you a one month update. So here's how I've been doing:

1. Learn new recipes.
This has been going well! I've been trying to bake a little (which is a big deal for me) and I've been trying to branch out in terms of the meals I cook too.

2. Use my film cameras again
So far, no progress here. Still a little too distracted by instagram & my DSLR. I don't know if it counts but I did buy film for my instax mini again so I've been enjoying that.

3. Run 200kms.
I'm well on my way to my goal with this one! Last month when I wrote my goals I was at 82kms and now I'm at 122km and tracking well to easily complete this goal in time.

4. Finish reading Game of Thrones.
I have to admit, this goal may have defeated me. As much as I love the TV show and as much as I love the story lines and characters, I've been really struggling with the books. I don't know what it is about them but I've taken a temporary hiatus to read something else for the meantime.

5. Make an editorial calendar.
This goal has been semi-achieved in a weird kind of way. I've completely mapped out all the posts I want to make for December, but somehow for November I was a little stumped. Which is unfortunate seeing as November is just around the corner and I have much more time up my sleeve to get organised for December. But Dec is always so easy with Christmas wishlists to share and 'the best of 2012' roundups.

Tastes like Summer

Although it doesn't really feel like it here yet, summer is just around the corner. To be honest the weather is still a little chilly and rainy but we have had some days here and there that give me hope for a long, hot summer. Last night a friend and I went to Kiwiyo (self serve frozen yoghurt + toppings) and it was nice sitting outside and watching the sky turn pink over the water. It's going to be my first summer living in Auckland and I'm excited for all the things to do up here. Hopefully the warmer weather kicks in soon!

Inside my Makeup bag

I'm not one of those girls with a hugely extensive makeup bag and incredible knowledge of how to apply everything perfectly. I own the basics and know what I like and that's enough for me! So here are the details of my make up bag:

For my nails
My collection is mostly full of bright colours and pastel shades, with a few sparkles thrown in as well. I'm a big fan of OPI and the American Apparel Nail Lacquer.

For my eyes/eyebrows
I have a Look in a Box Eyeshadow Palette which is great for the range of colours but for day-to-day wear I mostly stick with a soft brown/peachy colour. I fill in my brows with the Revlon Colorstay Brow Liner and finish off my eyes with Mac Zoom Lash Mascara and Revlon Colostay Liquid Liner.

For my skin
I keep it pretty simple with my skin. Revlon Smoothing Primer to create a smooth base for my foundation and minimize the appearance of my pores, Revlon Colorstay Foundation and a dash of Mac Blush on my cheeks.

For my hair
My hair is naturally a little bit out of control. (I don't know how to describe it, just very wavy and large). I straighten it most days, just to keep it in line (even if I still want a bit of wave and bounce, I have to straighten it a little to keep it tidy). I use GHD Obedience Cream to keep it in line and swear by Moroccan Oil for nourishing and replenishing.

(all pictures from @herecomesthesunblog & @jemyboy7)

I know it's become a bit of a cliche but I can't help it with the 'food-stagrams'. I love the weekends and exploring different cafes and restaurants in the city, or a lazy morning at home with a yummy cooked breakfast. These pictures are all from recent times and as you can see I'm a bit of a fruit fiend and partial to a cupcake or two as well.

Now that we've been in Auckland a little longer (it's been 4 months already!!) I wanted to share a few of my favourite food places as well:

Cafes: Humbug, Little & Friday, Cosset, Delish Cupcakes, Bluebells, Petal Cupcakes
Restaurants/ Takeaways: Renkon, Barilla, The Secret Garden, Happy, Mexico.

If you're from here and you think I'm missing out on something great, let me know!

P.S What do you think of my new blog header? It was illustrated by Tabitha Emma. If you're reading via a feed, please click through and take a look :)

Long Weekend Relaxation

Here in New Zealand the long weekend is just kicking off. We did have plans to take a mini trip but the event we were heading away for just got canceled. With the last minute change of plans I decided it would be the perfect weekend to enjoy some time at home to relax and catch up on some of the things I've been meaning to do.

I've heard something huge just happened on Downton (please don't ruin it for me) so I'm looking forward to getting up to date on that, as well as getting on top of some blogging tasks and enjoying a little 'me time'.

If you're in NZ enjoy the extra day off and to the rest of you, have a great weekend! ♥

I've already mentioned my love for the Trotterpup in a previous blog post on the best pets of instagram (see it here), but I just love him so much I thought he deserved his own post as well. Look at him!!! Argh. I almost can't handle the cuteness. Especially the Harry Potter pic with the golden snitch in his mouth.

I hope you enjoy this mid-week cuteness as much as I do!

P.S I have a pretty exciting giveaway on its way soon. A few goodies from a magazine we all know and love are up for grabs, if you can guess what I mean by that!
