Hi everyone, it's Gabrielle back with another guest post! Today I'm sharing some winter beauty tips for those of you living down under. I've tried most beauty remedies under the sun (or currently, the grey clouds) for coping with the dryness of skin and frizziness of hair that winter brings, but most of the time I turn back to basic items nearly all of us keep in our cupboards.
Repair your hair:
Natural oils can be used for a simple hair mask. Mix together 3 tbsp of Extra Virgin Olive Oil, with 1 tbsp melted honey (the stickiness of the honey will help bind the mask). Massage into your hair and let sit for 10-15 minutes before rinsing. Olive Oil not only helps to smooth out frizzy and dry hair but can also prevent a flaky scalp. Other natural ways to up your hair health in the winter include a diet rich in natural fats like avocado, and eggs - which are packed with vitamins for shiny hair.
Homemade scrubs are one of the easiest ways to avoid dry skin in winter! Make a homemade body scrub by mixing together these sweet ingredients. Take 1 cup Sugar, 1/2 cup of oil of choice, and 2 tbsp honey. This is a perfect and easy shower body scrub! If after exfoliating with this you wish to exfoliate more delicately, try buffing baking soda into the skin, mixing with water as you go. Do this up to three times weekly to clean away dead skin cells.
Harsh wind can have a rough effect on our lips come cooler weather. Brush your lips with a toothbrush when you're brushing your teeth, to soften them. Following with a simple sugar and olive oil scrub will exfoliate away dry skin, and the oil will replenish lost moisture.
