TV Talk: What I've Watched & What I Need to Watch

I'm not sure if I've discussed this here very much but TV shows are a huge part of my life. I choose TV over movies anyday just because I love having that much longer to get emotionally invested and attached to the characters. So I thought I'd share with you guys what I've already finished watching, what I'm part way through and what's next on the list! I'd also love to hear your recommendations :) So here we go!

Completed:

These shows I've seen start to finish and some of them (Gilmore Girls) many many times through. Needless to say I'm super excited for the Veronica Mars movie and it blows my mind that it's The OC's 10th anniversary this month!

Currently Watching or Up to Date on:

This list is a bit of a mix because it includes shows where I'm completely up to date and waiting for new episodes (Downton, Modern Family, Homeland and New Girl) and the rest are ones I'm behind on and playing catch up. I only have 5 episodes left of The Office (I can feel the tears coming already) and in contrast I'm only 1 episode into Nashville and 2 into The Mindy Project but I'll get there!

Next on the Watchlist:

And this is my (ever growing) list of tv shows I want to watch next! Currently the plan is to watch Suits when we finish The Office and Arrow when we finish Revenge and the others will just slot in somehow eventually.

I'd love to hear what you're watching as well! What are your all times faves? Any recommendations for me? I always love suggestions :)

P.S Edited to add: I've actually given up on a few tv shows along the way too - Arrested Development (loved the first 3 seasons but couldn't get into the new stuff), Boston Legal and How I Met Your Mother (too repetitive).

  2. We have the same "caught up with/currently watching" shows! I adore the Mindy Project, it's such a breath of fresh air. Orange is the New black is great too! Me and a friend watched it in a week and are already going through withdrawals. The Walking Dead is in my top 5 favorites shows and I'm itching to watch Arrow also! Great taste in television, if you ask me! :)

  3. Ooh, I see several of my favourites in the bunch. I can really recommend Hart of Dixie. :)

  4. Portlandia is sooooo funny but if you're not a fan of SNL humor, you might not find it as funny.

Game of Thrones, Skins (UK show), Inbetweeners (another UK show) Big Bang Theory, and Girls.

  5. In no particular order, I recommend Parenthood, Freaks and Geeks, Mad Men, Lost, and Grimm. I must say, I'm a little surprised not to see Mad Men on your list because of all the fun fashion. ;) At any rate, The Mindy Project absolutely rules! Happy watching!

  8. I love The OC, Gossip girl and Harts of Dixie. The husband and I watched the first three seasons of The OC last year and then went back to the DVD store for the fourth season and they didn't have it! Also love The Mentalist and I'm just getting into Devious Maids!

  9. I felt the same way about the new Arrested Development stuff. I could only get through a few episodes before moving on to something else. Suits is a must, and I second the Sherlock and Orange Is The New Black recommendations.

  13. Pushing Daisies is my all time favourite television program. It only went for two seasons but it was just so quirky and different. The costumes, characters and set design is all amazing. Definitely worth a watch!

  14. I've completed 4 out of the six shows you have (Gilmore girls I did with my dear husband who absolutely loved it!). I love watching tv shows over movies too, though I think mine is more of a time thing though where I can easily sit and watch a show while eating dinner, then get back to doing other stuff. But I do love getting involved with these characters and growing with them!

  18. Walking Dead is awesome, you need to get on to that one! I know what you mean about How I Met Your Mother, and I don't know what have happened to the characters but they have all gone a bit weird, especially in the latest series. I have been persevering though!

  26. Ooh I really want to watch Modern Family - I've heard good things! I watched half an episode of Nashville - I had to turn it off because I thought it was SO awful!
You should DEFO add Breaking Bad to your list - it's amazing.

  33. Community & Green Wing, I could watch these two on repeat for the rest of my life and be happy. I'm also a huge fan of Geordie Shore and Awkward. The Wire, It's Always Sunny and New Girl if I'm in the mood.

  34. Girls, Orange is the New Black, Catfish the TV show (watch the movie first also), Outrageous Fortune are all my favourites. I also really loved Grey's Anatomy for about the first 4 seasons but it's been going on for so long that I don't think I can go back and keep up. Maybe one day I'll get a must-spend-three-months-in-bed illness and watch everything from the start!

  35. I bet you would like The IT Crowd or Warehouse 13! Two great shows :)

  36. Girls is the last show I watched that was great! It is awkwardly fabulous! Love SATC, Orange is the New Black looks good, Downtown Abby (the costumes, ahhh!), Mr Selfridge (on TV1 and costumes again are lovely).

  37. My favorite show is Parks and Recreation. It's just so funny. Not long after I started watching it I got my sister hooked and we quote the show all the time to each other like it's our own language. I also LOVE New Girl and the Office (a very close 2nd and 3rd). About a month ago I started watching Orange is the New Black and got very quickly addicted...once you start you can't stop. I have to warn you it's pretty raunchy and controversial, that being said though I'm pretty conservative and it's still probably one of my favourites. So different from everything else out there and really fascinating.

  38. I have JUST started rewatching Gilmore Girls a couple of days ago. This is my fourth or fifth time I believe. Hannibal is great, and I would also recommend Carnival, Firefly, Doctor Who, Dexter and Mad Men (it gets better after the first couple of episodes).
There are many more but these are the ones that jump to mind right now!

  39. Arrow is amazing, I think you'll really enjoy it!

  40. I will only quote a few but I just loooove Downton Abbey, very elegant and old fashionned just the way i love it!
Homeland is a masterpiece and with unbelievably good actors.
Walking Dead is a must see, even though season two is a bit slow, the third one is incredible!
And I strongly suggest you Game of Thrones, hard as hell, very chocking, but absolutely fantastic!
Also, 2 Broke Girls has been such a fun new show, along with New Girl, I'm completely addicted!
    Enjoy!!

  41. My most recent challenge was to watch the full 10 seasons of Friends and it was the best. I'd never watched it from start to finish and I absolutely loved it.
Some other suggestions: True Blood, Game of Thrones, Parks and Recreation, the IT Crowd and Girls.
I watch/ed a lot of the shows you listed there as well :) Also really keen to watch Orange is the New Black.

  42. Hannibal is absolutely tremendous - it's one of my new favorite shows! I hope you love it.

I would like to add The Newsroom!

Too many shows to watch, too little time!

I'm always looking for new shows to watch. great list!

  45. oh man! New Girl and Gilmore Girls are my favorite shows!! you have good taste ;)

    ReplyDelete
  46. I love almost half of those! I don't see One Tree Hill on there and quite frankly I rank that right up there with my love of Gilmore Girls!

  47. Already mentioned a few times but Orange Is The New Black needs to be put and bumped up to the top of your "to watch list". I have an addiction to TV shows and have watched all the shows you've mentioned. I saw in a more recent post that you've been watching Suits so I think i'll add that to my to watch list. Right after I have caught up on Revenge.
