The Next Chapter

Hi everyone,

I've been putting off writing this blog post but I think the time has come for me to be honest with you all so that I can move on to the next chapter in my life.

There's no easy way to say it so I'm going to jump straight in - I'm taking a break from being a blogger. Not necessarily forever, but I'm taking a hiatus to reassess and I'm open to a future where I might return to it (although in a different capacity) or I might never come back to it at all.

It's been an amazing journey of 5 and a half years and I've loved so many aspects of it along the way. I've loved meeting new people, connecting with like minds, being able to work with brands I love, learn new skills and gain opportunities that never would have been available to me otherwise.

However, I'm currently at a turning point in my life and I am not sure where blogging fits in anymore. I'm 26 years old and not in the same place I was when I started this as a 20 year old. Running around on weekends posing for outfit photos isn't as fun as it once was and the further I get through my 20's the more I realise my priorities are changing.

I work in digital marketing all day long and I love having a career I can throw myself into - so when I get home from work I'm not as eager as I once was to spend more long hours on the computer.

That being said, I am not disappearing completely. I will still be extremely active on my instagram and twitter and if you'd like to still be connected, please follow me there.

Thank you so much for being a part of this journey and for sticking with me as this blog has evolved and grown over the years. It's been such an amazing part of my life and even though I feel good about my decision to move forward, I know there will be so much I will miss as well.

I am keeping my URL in case I find myself wanting to come back to this in the future, but for now I know it's best for me to take a break and enjoy other parts of my life.

Much love

Amanda x

P.S Shout out to my amazing husband for all his help with my blog as well - for learning DSLR photography for me, patiently running around shooting pictures and never complaining. I appreciate all you've done J! You guys can also follow him on instagram @jemyboy7.

  5. I think that in life, you have to do what is best for you and what makes you happy. If that's no longer blogging, then you should absolutely step away and chase that happiness elsewhere! Good luck on all that you do! See you on Instagram!

  6. Your cute outfits and inspiration will be very missed. Maybe you'll come back to the blogging world when there's a "Baby Thomas" (I almost said Baxter.. weird.) You can join our mom blogging community and show of your baby's fashion) ;) Not that I'm rushing you. (only a little)

love you and miss you terribly, sweet.
maybe this will help me get on the ball and get with that snail mail i promised you ages ago. :)

  7. Good on you for making what must have been a super hard decision. Your blog will be missed by so many people! I've read every.single.one of your posts for nearly two years, and when I first discovered blogs I spent hours going through your archives, too. I cam definitely say I wouldn't have started a blog, or still be blogging, if it wasn't for you.

Wish you all the best! Hope you get to enjoy more down time now :)

I bet it will be a weird feeling wanting to photograph everything and not pop it on the blog! haha. You are ambitious and hard working and so creative- life has so many opportunities and doors waiting for you to open! You have so much sparkle- and that's something not many have. All the best for the future Amanda and Jeremy! xoxo

  11. Well done for all your time dedicated to your blog, shows dedication and spirit. There always comes a point in life where we have to leave one chapter behind a start a new one ( i did when i had my daughter at 16 ) so for that i have the utmost respect for you. I hope you do come back but if you don't i wish you all the luck in the world in everything you do. Kate x

  12. O wow, this is rather big news my love. It did make my heart break just a little bit though, but I do hope you will return to it soonish and post about Japan, and all the other exciting adventures in your life when you are ready, but I totally know what you mean about the "next chapter" as I am falling into that same category as we speak with baby on the way and all. Your blog does remind me of the times we all lived together in Hamilton though enjoying photoshoots and having fun on the weekends. All the best, chat soon! Miss & love you. x

  13. This is so sad! I've followed you for years! But I understand that blogging is something you have to be passionate about as it takes so much time. Thank you for having such an inspirational and beautiful blog over the years. Even though you are based on the other other side of the world from me, your blog is one of my favourites and I love reading your posts throughout the week (and living through your summer when I'm in winter!).
I hope everything goes well for you and will still keep following your beautiful instagram photos :)

  14. I feel really sad to read this! I didn't know you had a full time job outside of this blog (I guess I'm a relatively new follower, for about 2 years?). But now that I know, I understand that maintaining an active blog definitely takes a lot of effort and time. Have been an avid follower of your Instagram, and still hoping that you will update this blog once in a while. Will faithfully check back every now and then!

  18. Hi Amanda,

I just want to thank you for all the work you put in your blog and everything that you shared with us. I've only discovered your blog this year but since then I keep wishing that I can visit New Zealand someday. I'm from Paris, France, and it's like the opposite side of the world... long ride, right? Anyway, thank you for making me discover your country! Good luck for your next chapter :)

  21. Hi Amanda -- I'll certainly miss your blog (I always loved reading about your running adventures as I'm a runner myself and very few bloggers are into that too), but I absolutely understand where you're coming from. When a hobby stops being fun, that's the time to call it quits. You've gotta enjoy life's moments and not be bogged down in anything that you love less than 100%.
    Best wishes going forward! x

  29. Oh noo, so sad to read this, but from a totally selfish view as I love your blog! Yours and Bleubird's were the first blogs I ever followed :) You've been such an inspiration, but I can completely understand your decision. Funnily enough I wrote a post recently discussing blogging and how close I've come to hitting publish on a goodbye post - There comes a point where you feel ready to move on. I'll still keep up with your beautiful photos and happenings on Instagram. Good luck on your next chapter and should you come back to blogging I'll definitely still be a reader :) xxx
