SNOW! + When is the right time to move?

Here's the video from this weekend. We were lucky enough to find ourselves in the middle of a snow fall on top of Arthur's Seat!

Mentally it's been a bittersweet weekend, as we missed the wedding of some close friends in NZ due to having just arrived over here and it being too expensive to turn around and fly all the way back so soon. This was the first of two weddings we're missing this season and it's a strange feeling.

Missing out on milestones of the people you love is one of the downsides of moving overseas for sure, but we've discussed it a lot and there's never going to be the "right time" to do it, as something will always hold you back. If travel is what you're after, you just have to bite the bullet and accept all the highs and lows that come along with it.

Anyway, despite my musings, I'm happy we made this choice and I'm happy we're over here. Edinburgh is beautiful (as is evidenced in this video in particular) and we're having the best time so far. Can't wait to see what 2016 holds!

This is our real life in Edinburgh

Hi guys,

Thought I would check in again with our latest YouTube videos and a bit of a life update. While we're not working it's a good chance to create a few more videos so expect regular uploads for the next wee while, including a 'what we eat in a day' vegan food diary!

Let's Talk About the Downside of Travel

Jeremy and I filmed a little video to talk about the ups and downs of our trip. We had an amazing time exploring new countries, meeting new people, eating great food and learning about history, but like with anything there were tough moments too.

This video goes through each place we went through and our personal peak & pits for each location, hope you like our stories!

Also thanks for your comments on my recent post, it's so cool people are still reading here after all these years. I'm excited to be [somewhat] back!

The Hard Truth Of It All

As I'm writing this to you I am currently tucked up in a cute apartment in Edinburgh, waiting for dinner to cook and have spent the day hanging with friends and watching Netflix and I truly do love this new city I'm based in. If this was a blog entry from 3-4 years ago, that would be all I would tell you. But this time around I want to be more honest. I never lied in the past but my life was also never as pastel & pretty as it probably looked like.

Real talk: I'm happy to be in Edinburgh, I'm excited for this year, but nothing is ever perfect. I don't have a job (working on that), I'm uncertain about the future, and life is a weird mix of not wanting to stay home everyday, but also knowing that going out means spending money and spending money means dipping into our remaining budget that has to last us until we have jobs.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not feeling down on my luck, but now that this blog is up and running again I want to treat it a bit differently to last time around. I'm hopeful we'll both get jobs soon and in the mean time life is a mix of LinkedIn and recruitment agency trawling, constantly refreshing emails, and getting out of the house for walks + fresh air so we don't get cabin fever. Some days are full of positivity and welcome leads, other days you avoid checking your bank account and try to push away self doubt.

I'm not planning to blog as regularly as I once did, but I thought it would be nice to check in here and there with a few posts that aren't just embedded videos x
